Sami Khedira – Juve have improved
August 14, 2017 4:26 amSami Khedira believes Juventus are stronger than they were last season despite the departures of Leonardo Bonucci and Dani Alves.
The Old Lady claimed the domestic double last term, winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia, while they also reached the final of the Champions League before losing 4-1 to Real Madrid.
However, since that defeat in Cardiff, Juve have allowed experienced duo Bonucci and Alves to join AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, although the likes of Douglas Costa, Mattia De Sciglio and Federico Bernardeschi have completed moves to the Allianz Stadium.
Khedira admits it was disappointing to see Bonucci and Alves leave the club, but he believes the quality of their new signings means Juve will be stronger than ever this season.
“It’s a pity that some good players left us during summer break, but that’s football,” the German international posted on Instagram.
“Our new players have also brought great quality and drive into the team, so I think our squad is even better than last year! Being Juventus our goal is to always fight for titles in all competitions as long as possible.”
Juventus will kick-off the new season when they take on Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana on Sunday and Khedira is determined to start the new campaign with a bang.
“We’re back again on Sunday,” he added.
“After our pre-season we’re ready for Lazio and our first opportunity to win the first title of the season in the Supercoppa Italiana!”
